The Mystery Revealed

Hid From the Foundation of the World

Our Christmas Miracle

“And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, Who created all things by Jesus Christ” (Ephesians 3:9).

What is the mystery hid from the beginning? The mystery, now revealed, is that God would become man, the God/Man, and die on a Cross for our sins. The Savior of the world would be born in a manger in Bethlehem and would live among us and sacrifice His Life that whosoever believes in Him shall have Eternal Life. The following familiar verse says it all:

“For God so loved the world that He gave is only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life” (John 3:16).

Christmas is the celebration of God’s gift of His Son to mankind. This is the greatest miracle we could ever hope to receive and we have the opportunity every year at this time to acknowledge all the Lord has done for us and thank Him for reaching down in an incredible display of His Mercy and Grace.

The Salvation of mankind was planned by God from eternity past. It was revealed only when the Lord Jesus came as a Babe in the manger, lived among us, and died on the Cross. His purpose for coming was clear – He came that we should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.

As we gather together with our families at this time each year; His love for us should burn brightly in our hearts as we behold this baby born into a world that is hopelessly lost and in need of a Savior. He is that Savior who made that trip from Glory to save all those who embrace Him.

Those who lived before Christ came did not see the full plan of God for our Redemption. It was hidden in God. We are so blessed to see the full plan laid out before us and that full plan is Christ and Him crucified. The sin debt could not be paid until Christ paid it at Calvary. This was God’s eternal purpose even unknown to the Angels until it was revealed in Christ and made known through the church.

“To the intent that now unto the Principalities and Powers in Heavenly places (Righteous Angels) might be known by the church the manifold Wisdom of God. According to the Eternal purpose which He proposed in Christ Jesus our Lord (the church making known to the Angels the Wisdom of God not previously known by them)” (Ephesians 3:10,11 & ESB notes).

1 Peter 1:12 confirms that Angels desire to look into things regarding our Salvation which brings to mind just how precious our Salvation is. The church has been entrusted with the full Gospel. Through faith in Christ and His sacrificial death at Calvary we have boldness to approach God with confidence that we have been forgiven of our sins and welcomed into His very Presence as children of God.

“In Whom (Christ) we have boldness (all due to the Cross) and access (to the very Throne of God) with confidence by faith in Him (all due to Christ and the Cross) (Ephesians 3:12 & ESB notes).

That baby in the manger was a gift from the Father. He lovingly sent His only Begotten Son to be a sacrifice for all those that realize the enormous significance of what happened on that first Christmas some two thousand years ago. Jesus is our Christmas miracle.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with Child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His Name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (Matthew 1:23).

Merry Christmas!
