If Our Gospel Be Hid

Willful Blindness

“But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them who are lost” (2 Corinthians 4:3).

Have you ever tried to share the Gospel with someone and seen their eyes glass over and they become distracted by the things around them. They seem totally uncomfortable with hearing the Gospel that would have resulted in their soul being saved. Saved from an eternity outside of the presence of the Lord. Saved from an eternity in Hell. Unfortunately, this happens all to often. But, why?

Satan is the God of this world and has deceived most of those who have been born into this world since the Fall in the Garden. The Lord showed our first parents how they might have fellowship with Him. The way was by offering up the sacrifice prescribed by the Lord, pointing to the future coming of the “Lamb of God” who would take away “the sin of the world.” Abel obeyed and offered the right sacrifice. Cain did not, and offered up the works of his hands.

From the time of Adam and Eve, Satan has been pedaling his lies, and most down through the years have bought into them. The Gospel is hid from the lost because they have gone the way of Cain. They have lived their lives without acknowledging their need for God. Their eyes glass over because they do not believe in God and therefore have no desire to listen to the only way that they might be saved from the deception of Satan and enter into the Glorious Kingdom of God. They walk, order their behavior, according to the course of this world which is in the realm of the evil one.

“In whom the God of this world (Satan) has blinded the minds of them which believe not (a willful blindness), lest the light of the Glorious Gospel of Christ (the Message of the Cross), Who is the Image of God (Who alone is the Image of God), should shine in unto them” (2 Corinthians 4:4 & ESB commentary).

Fortunately there are those of us who, when the Gospel was presented, received it with great joy. We realized our total lost state and the lie we have been believing before hearing and believing the Truth of the Gospel. Having been saved, and receiving the Mercy of God in our own lives, we are to go forth presenting the greatest news ever to a lost and dying world. The Holy Spirit is drawing and convicting those in the path of the Gospel. It is up to those we come across to make a decision regarding it.

Choosing to come the Lord’s Way is the best decision anyone can make. The Lord’s way is by repentance and faith in Christ and His sacrificial death on the Cross. It is the only way! We are to preach this Gospel to all those we come across praying that they might believe and escape the trap of the Devil. If they do not seem willing to recieve the “Good News” at the time, we pray that we may have planted a seed that will result in them coming to the Lord in the future.

The light shines out of darkness calling out to whosoever will harken to the clarion call. Our faith In Christ and Him crucified brings us out of darkness into the light. He paid the price for our sin at the Cross and offers Salvation to all those who come by faith in His finished work. We pray that this Gospel will bring forth much fruit as we share it with a lost and dying world. As the following verse tells us; the light of the Gospel has shined in our hearts and we are forever grateful for the Lord’s Mercy and Grace in our lives.

“For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the Glory of God in the Face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).

Prayer Changes Things

The Lord wants us to come to Him with all our needs. Prayer requests can be left on the comments page of this website.

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the Righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers…” (1 Peter 3:12).

The Lord hears our prayers and is faithful to answer.

Always Remember,

God Loves You!
