Born Once, Die Twice. Born Twice, Die Once.

” …Verily, verily, I (Jesus) say unto you, except a man be born of water (natural birth) and of the Spirit (spiritual birth), he cannot enter the Kingdom of God” (John 3:5).

The Lord, in the above verse, is speaking about the absolute necessity of being born again, or being born spiritually, to enter the Kingdom of God. Our Salvation is the result of coming to the Lord in repentance and accepting the free gift He provides by His death on the Cross. He paid the sin debt owed to God on the Cross. We come empty-handed realizing our total inability to accomplish righteousness by our own efforts. So we are born naturally and subsequently born from above, or born spiritually. We are in essence born twice.

If we have been born again we will go to be with the Lord immediately upon death and forever be with the Lord. So, we are born twice and die once with the natural death.

If one is not born again; at death they will go to Hell. There, they will await the Great White Throne judgment. This judgment is for all those that do not belong to the Lord. Revelation Chapter 20 has this to say about the Great White Throne Judgement:

“And I saw a Great White Throne (final judgment of the unredeemed), and Him Who sat on it (The Lord Jesus Christ)…. And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God (called the Resurrection of Damnation); and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which was the Book of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”

The Bible says that all the unredeemed, those that died lost, will be judged by their works. All they had done in their life will be in the books. The standard for entrance into Heaven by a person’s works is perfection. James, in his epistle says “Whoever shall keep the whole Law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” This points to the impossibility of gaining Salvation through obedience to the Law. We would have to keep it perfectly which no man can do. Revelation Chapter 20 goes on to say:

“And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and Hell delivered up the dead which were in them (all the unredeemed); and they were judged every man according to his works (a just judgment).”

“And death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire (final destination of the unredeemed). This is the second death.”

The natural death of the unredeemed is followed by a second death after judgment is rendered by the Lord at the Great White Throne Judgment. This is the second death and it is only for those that have never accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lake of Fire is their final destination. And this is for forever and ever. The Bible goes on to say:

“And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life (the names of all the redeemed are written here) was cast into the Lake of Fire.”

The Bible is clear, we must be born spiritually (second birth) to be saved and enter into the Kingdom of God. Those who do not accept the Lord will appear before the Lord at the Great White Throne Judgment, and they will be cast into the Lake of Fire. The second death is a permanent separation from God.

We are one breath away from eternity at any given moment. Have you been born spiritually, that is, born from above? If not, won’t you come into the safety of the Lord and His Kingdom? Accept the free gift of Eternal Life today and be born from above. It cost the Lord greatly to provide for our Salvation. Today is the day of salvation. There are only two choices we can make in this life regarding our soul. Whosoever chooses the Lord is saved, and whosoever does not is condemned. The books of Acts and Revelation makes this clear:

“Whosoever shall call on the Lord shall be saved” (Acts 2:21).

“Whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire” (Revelation 20:15).

The Bible entreats us to seek the Lord while He may be found. The Lord calls out to us in Isaiah Chapter 55: “Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near (without delay- there’s an urgency expressed here).” He may be found today. There is no guarantee for tomorrow. Born once, die twice. Born twice, die once. Won’t you hear the Lord calling out today and come? He loves you and His desire is that all might be saved.
