And It Could Be Today
“In My Father’s House are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:2,3).
The Lord made this promise to His Disciples, and to us, just prior to His crucifixion. He wanted us to know that He was going to prepare a place in Heaven for us, and that He would return for us. His return for His church is what we refer to as the Rapture. It’s been almost 2000 years since He made this promise and His church awaits His soon return. Prophetically, there is nothing that must happen prior to this great event. It could happen at any moment. The last days began at the time of the church age and we are now in the last of the last days.
The Lord loves us and wanted us to know what His plan for us was prior to His leaving. He has great things planned for those that love Him and we wait with great anticipation for His return. The Rapture of the church will signal the end of the church age. The focus then will be on the Salvation of Israel which will come about at the end of what will be the darkest days this world has ever known: it’s called the Great Tribulation. The Lord will bring judgment on a rebellious world and all of Israel will be saved (Romans 11:26).
With all this in mind, we must make sure that we are among the beloved- that we know the Lord and have been saved by faith in His sacrificial death at Calvary. As mentioned, the Lord could return at any moment and we must be ready. He came into this world on a love mission to save us and provide a home for us with Him in Glory. The world is not our home. Once the church leaves in the Rapture, this world will experience the judgment of God. We must not straddle the fence between the life the Lord offers us and the draw of the world. We must deny ourselves and take up our Cross, daily, and follow the Lord (Luke 9:23).
But what does that mean? How do we deny ourselves and take up our cross? We deny our own abilities (willpower, strength, dependence on self) and depend totally on the Lord. We do that by placing our faith in Christ and Him crucified daily seeking and yielding to the Lord’s will in our lives. It’s the greatest life we can live. As the Apostle Peter said, “It’s joy unspeakable and full of glory.” It’s Christ living in us by the power of the Holy Spirit which gives us freedom and liberty. It’s the Holy Spirit doing the work in us, not us striving in our own strength to live a life pleasing to the Lord.
The Lord has told us that He will return for those that have heard and responded by faith to the clarion call of Salvation. 2000 years have passed since that promise and the prophetic signs pointing to the coming end time judgment of God are all around us. The trump will sound and the Lord will come. Are you ready?
“For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, and with the voice of the Archangel, and with the Trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17).
Prayer Changes Things
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the Righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers…” (1 Peter 3:12).
The Lord hears our prayers and is faithful to answer.
